As of Monday 2/1/16 Suburban Minneapolis based BD’s Mongolian Grill has purchased the Chicagoland based FlatTop Grill. This should prove interesting for Downtown Naperville that is home to both restaurants.
According to a report by NRN both restaurants will retain their names and concepts while BD’s President Joe Phraner will lead both companies.
I’ve visited multiple locations of both restaurants and have formed opinions about both places. I’d love to see how this acquisition strengthens both concepts.
I’m also on the lookout for independently owned Stir-Fry style (Mongolian BBQ) restaurants similar to BD’s and FlatTop. If you know of one please leave a comment below or send me a shout in email, I’d love to try them out.
