Salsa…Eat…Repeat

May is a great food month for a few reasons, one of which is National Salsa Month. A couple of weeks ago I hopped in the car and took a trip into the Chicago city limits and celebrated National Salsa Month at Kokopelli. It was worth the drive and paying a couple of bucks for parking and I absolutely detest paying for parking…usually.

OK! on to the Food, Salsa specifically, Kokopelli has hands down some of the best salsas I’ve ever had. House made and ridiculously good, they feature 6 salsas ranging from earthy and sweet to super hot, they have it all.

The Salsas are crafted by Chef Guillermo “Oso” Campos Moreno and his team to compliment an equally compelling and delicious menu. Everyone knows that I love highlighting the best of the best in the Suburbs of Chicago, but ever so often there is a place that just calls me into the city limits. Kokopelli is one of those places.  I’ll let you in on a little secret about me…I love Mexican food, especially tacos, especially octopus tacos, and let me tell you something, the Kraken taco is Crackin’. The octopus is grilled perfectly, tender, after being marinated in a Mexican style pesto.

Listen…Here a few tips for when you visit Kokopelli, because I know you will:

  • If you love Octopus, get the Kraken taco
  • If you don’t love Octopus get the Kraken taco
  • Put Castigo Azteca salsa on your Kraken taco
  • Get the Chicharron Guacamole
  • Try a bunch of other things too
  • Thank me later
