Upscale Casual Indian Fare in Bannockburn

10421553_1583089885241094_6941499348474829058_nAs many of the Eat The Burbs readers know, I’m a fan of Chicago’s North Shore and I love Indian food. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to enjoy them both at the newly opened Marigold Maison in Bannockburn. Located just across the parking lot from Heinens Grocery store, you’ll find Marigold Maison, very unassuming on the outside but absolutely gorgeous on the inside. My favorite part of the restaurant was the see through kitchen, I loved seeing the kitchen staff and Chef Sunil Kumar work together. They had harmony, that kitchen hummed!

I ordered quite a few things to try, so I’m sure I looked like a total glutton to everyone else there. Speaking of everyone else, even though the restaurant just opened, there was a steady flow of customers, which was great to see. I’m always rooting for suburban restaurants to win, to thrive and it looks like Marigold Maison is well on its way.

The menu focuses on using organic ingredients with traditional Indian cooking techniques and equipment, like their Tandoor oven. Chef Kumar aims for healthier fare that is full of flavor. He has quite a few of the usual suspects on the menu like Samosas, Curry, and Tandoori dishes, then you have things like Chickpea Ceviche and Spice Naan that are kind of unexpected. The dishes I tried were exciting and well spiced but not overly done, everything is very approachable and balanced.

I believe that Marigold Maison will shape up to be a suburban favorite for many. I know that I will be returning for sure!

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily.
