A new luxury movie theater opened in Skokie, Il recently. The VIP dine in concept currently occupies 6 screening rooms at Old Orchard Skokie mall located near the Buffalo Wild Wings. The cinema boasts a full service kitchen, sports bar and seat-side wait staff.
CMX Menu
There isn’t a walk-up concession stand here folks. If you want something to eat or drink while watching a movie you’ll need to use in theater technology or the CMX Cinemas mobile app. The layout of the theater and positioning of seating and the sound system have been carefully curated to reduce distractions. The staff has been taught to serve customers as quietly and efficiently as possible.
The Food
Executive Chef Kristin Tiritilli, a Chicagoland native and Lettuce Entertain You alumnus, had to consider both taste and sound when coming up with the menu. “Nothing can be too loud” said Tiritilli, something that took some getting used to. Chef Tiritilli has put together a menu that includes everything from charcuterie and artisanal cheese to filet mignon and personal pizza.
The Drinks
To compliment the dinner menu, CMX staffs a mixologist to create custom cocktails with top shelf spirits. Wines are also available by the glass and bottle along with drafts and bottled beers. Interestingly enough, the most popular drinks on the menu are the CMX Famous Shakes. They come in flavors like Dulce de Leche, Butterscotch and Triple chocolate. For those that want a little buzz with their ice cream, there are spiked shakes available too.
The Seats
The seats can fully recline and come equipped with a blanket to ensure comfort. Each seat is wide and plush. During my visit it was very apparent that CMX paid close attention to seat height and positioning in order to reduce interruptions.
Second Skokie Movie Theater Opening Soon
CMX is already planning to open another Skokie movie theater in 2018 at Old Orchard. The plans for the second theater are still top secret but you can keep up with new developments on the CMX website and on their app, available for download in the Google Play and Apple App Store.
