We Finally had Date Night at this Evanston Restaurant
As most of my regular readers know, date night with my husband comes way too infrequently. We are doing a better job of making a priority of it, but between kids & work, it gets tough. Needless to say, when we do get out for date night, I want it to last as long as possible. We usually spend hours at a restaurant, so I try to pick suburban restaurants or bars that have a fantastic atmosphere. On date night, we prefer places that are dimly lit and bustling, with a great menu.
Date Night in the Chicago Suburbs
Several weeks ago we had the pleasure of dining at The Stained Glass Bistro in Evanston, I cannot believe that it’s taken us this long to check them out. Stained Glass has been open since 1999 and locals and those from surrounding suburbs have been enjoying the restaurant as a special event destination for all of those years. Recently, the restaurant went through a bit of a rebirth when it was purchased in 2014 by Interior Designer and Opera Singer turned restaurateur, Jason Balla. Jason renovated the space and began working very closely with his Chef to revamp the menu as well; I’d say they were both done exquisitely.

The restaurant focuses on seasonal American cuisine combining traditional and international flavors. Jason is very passionate about wine as well, so he’s worked with his staff to curate a global wine list that is sure to impress. Personally, I’m a big fan of dry reds and I was extremely pleased with the selection. The restaurant also boasts a Cruvinet wine storage system. Seriously I could go on and on bragging about how cool this place is, but I’ll spare you and move on to the food and drinks. I’ve posted a few pictures on Instagram that were crazy popular. Although the lighting was dim like we like it, it’s not the best for pictures, so I hope you like these.
When your appetizer is this amazing, you REALLY anticipate the entree. Had it @stainedglasswbb, it’s the crab cake This crab cake came on a bed of poblano peppers and roasted corn then it was piled high with a jicama and watermelon radish slaw brought together with by a cilantro-lime aioli, the crab cake was still Crispy on the outside, tender and filled with crab. So damn good. #eatheburbs in #evanston #foodporn #yahoofood #buzzfeedfood #seafood #foodbeast #huffposttaste #chicagosbest #burnsnight A photo posted by Suburban Chicago Food Blog (@eattheburbs) on
If you’re looking for a sexy night out at an Evanston restaurant then The Stained Glass Bistro may be one that you should try. Perfect for quality time with your spouse or fun with friends. The dim lighting, beautiful space, and seasonal menu were just what we needed.
